I cannot express enough gratitude for the exceptional care and expertise of Dr. Appou, Upper GI Surgeon. His dedication and professionalism were truly life-changing for me. Before meeting him, I struggled for years without a firm diagnosis, feeling lost in a cycle of uncertainty and discomfort. However, through his skillful guidance, I underwent crucial procedures—including Gastroscopy, gallbladder removal, Nissen fundoplication, and revision surgery.
The past seven years have been incredibly tough, but thanks to Dr Appou’s commitment to patient care, I finally received the treatment I desperately needed. His expertise not only restored my health but also gave me some of my life back that I could return to work. Today, I can move forward with confidence and comfort, and I will forever be grateful for his support and surgical excellence.
I am delighted to be able to provide a testimonial for Dr. Appou. I will be eternally grateful to him for his knowledge, expertise, and kindness.
I first met Dr. Appou during the winter of 2023 whilst I was being investigated for a possible cancerous tumor on my pancreas. Dr. Appou was the key influence guiding the multidisciplinary team to determine the exact nature of my illness through a number of CT and MRI scans and endoscopies. I remember how, in April 2023, as a result of his diligence and close scrutiny of all my data, he told me and my wife, Barbara, that major surgery was a likely way to progress. This was confirmed soon after Dr. Appou described the ‘Whipple’s Procedure’ in such a clear, straightforward way that I both understood the seriousness of the situation and the process. I appreciated his clear communicative style and felt complete confidence in his abilities. This was extremely important to me on such a day in my life. Subsequently, after final preparations, Dr. Appou, with his team, carried out my operation at the end of May 2023.
He visited me the following day in the High Dependency Unit and was able to reassure me that the tumor (neuroendocrine) had been successfully removed. He repeated these visits until I was discharged from the hospital about ten days later. Dr. Appou will, of course, have had responsibility for other patients, but during this time I was impressed by his commitment to my welfare. His continuing commitment to my welfare was further demonstrated through my excellent post-operative care, including chemotherapy and a number of consultations coordinated by Dr. Appou. It was always clearly evident to me that he had my well-being at heart. I am certain that his other patients would feel the same.
My last meeting with Dr. Appou was in January of this year. I expressed my gratitude to him, as did my wife Barbara, as strongly as I could. It is now just over two years since the Whipple’s Procedure, and I am feeling better than I ever expected. To a great extent this is due to Dr. Appou’s knowledge, surgical skills, and experience, but also to his interpersonal abilities – always professional but at ease in listening and talking. I will never forget him.
Yours sincerely,
