Dr. Appou is a highly accomplished Consultant General Surgeon with over three decades of clinical and academic experience in the field of General Surgery. Known for his compassionate care, precise surgical skills, and commitment to his patients, Dr. Appou has earned a strong reputation both in the UK and internationally.
He studied for his MBBS and trained for his Master of Surgery at one of India’s premier institutes, JIPMER, in Pondicherry. Aiming to take his surgical skills to the next level, Dr. Appou moved to the UK and gained his Fellowship of the Royal College of Surgeons—not once but twice, in Edinburgh and then Glasgow. Working in the NHS in Wales, England and Scotland for the next 29 years, he worked with some of the very best Surgeons and Clinicians. He undertook his Higher Surgical Training in Glasgow & Edinburgh in Scotland alongside an additional 1 year fellowship in advanced liver and pancreas surgery training at the specialist Liver Unit in Baskingstoke.
Working as a Senior Clinical Fellow in London’s Royal Free Hospital in the HBP Surgery and Liver Transplantation Unit, and then in the Queen Elizabeth Hospital, Birmingham and Coventry’s Walsgrave Hospital, he completed his specialty training. For the next 18 years, Dr. Appou then provided service as a Consultant Surgeon in Raigmore Hospital in Inverness, Scotland. Treating patients with complex surgeries for cancers, developing new services, and, most importantly, building incredible rapport with his patients. Taking his wealth of skills & knowledge, Dr. Appou joined Fakeeh University Hospital in Dubai to undertake a new and exciting role in expanding and developing the Surgical Department as one of the best centers in Dubai.
